Sept. 1, 2004 - Corrected transcription errors in the following tables of page 87 (Chapter 7, §59):
- Second table ("north outside" coffer dimensions): In column α, +15 corrected to read +35.
- Third table ("south outside" coffer dimensions): In column η, +41 corrected to read +40.
- Fourth table ("bottom outside" coffer dimensions): In column E, +9 corrected to read +17; +7 corrected to read +9. In column F, +2 corrected to read -2; +7 corrected to read -7. In column H, -12 corrected to read -1.
- Last table ("west inside" coffer dimensions): Columns C through O had been erroneously transcribed from the first table on page 88. (Thanks to Chad Benson for bringing this to my attention.)
Nov. 21-24, 2004 - Throughout the Petrie site:
- Repaired many table presentation problems.
- Removed all uses of Symbol font, which is no longer used in modern browsers employing unicode. Replaced with numerical character references.
- P. 107 table: inner depth column header "1/2 along" corrected to read "2/3 along."
- P. 107, bottom of page: Lid measurements corrected to include 8.20 S.S.W.
Dec. 23, 2004 - Throughout the Petrie site:
- Converted all font control to style sheets (CSS).
- Relocated footnotes to bottom of page with hypertext footnote references in text.
- Chapter 21 Section 152 table: Column 2 row 1 "327 cubits" corrected to read "27 cubits."
Feb. 23, 2005:
- Chapter 13 Section 92: Added correction page and spreadsheet to explain Petrie's faulty computation of P2-P3 azimuth. (Thanks to Stephen Brabin for his discovery and analysis of this error.)
March 14, 2005:
- Chapter 6 Section 32: Corrected "it is seen that at the I9th course" to read "it is seen that at the 19th course." (Thanks to Andrew Bourmistroff for spotting this one.)
May 30, 2005 - Chapter 7:
- Section 39: Corrected "knowing the distauces" to read "knowing the distances."
- Section 60: Corrected "a constant error of -01" to read "a constant error of -.01" (decimal was omitted).
- Section 64 table: Removed zeroes mistakenly added after decimal point on some values.
July 15, 2005 - Chapter 5, §19: Corrected transcription errors in tables:
- Was: "N.W. socket of of 1st Pyramid (Gill)." Duplicate word deleted.
- Was: "N.E. socket of of 1st Pyramid (Gill)." Duplicate word deleted.
- "N.E. corner of casing of side of 1st pyramid" corrected to read "N.E. corner of casing of 1st pyramid"; i.e., "side of" removed.
- "S.E. corner of casing of side of 1st pyramid" similarly corrected to read "S.E. corner of casing of 1st pyramid."
- "S.W. corner of casing of side of 1st pyramid" similarly corrected to read "S.W. corner of casing of 1st pyramid."
- "N.W. corner of casing of side of 1st pyramid" similarly corrected to read "N.W. corner of casing of 1st pyramid."

July 26, 2005:
- Chapter 6, Section 20: Original Petrie error highlighted with tool-tip correction. Column header in table erroneously reads "Case Plane Sides"; should read "Core Plane Sides."
July 28, 2005:
- Chapter 6, Section 21, next-to-last paragraph. Semicolon omitted after "1.1". Text erroneously read "but another less satisfactory estimate differed 1.1 on the S., ± .2; . . . ." Corrected to read "but another less satisfactory estimate differed 1.1; on the S., ± .2; . . . ."
November 30, 2005:
- Chapter 6, first paragraph. "Masonary" corrected to read "masonry."
March 18, 2006 - Corrected transcription errors in Chapter 6, Section 28, first table entitled "EAST TO WEST":
- "S. corner of opening on E. side of the base" corrected to read "S. corner of opening on E. side to base."
- "N. corner of opening on E. side of the base" corrected to read "N. corner of opening on E. side to base."
March 21, 2006:
- Chapter 6, Section 28: Highlighted values possibly harboring a Petrie calculation error. Linked to explanation page s28_caveat.html. *
- Chapter 6, Section 29: Petrie transposition error highlighted with tool-tip correction. "S. trench, axial length" reads 2093.7, correct value is 2039.7. (Note: "S. trench, outer end, to central line" minus "S. trench, inner end, to central line" = 3430.4 - 1390.7 = 2039.7) *
- Chapter 6, Section 29, page 48: Petrie confused his reference lines. "Trial passages axis, E. of central line, at the station marks" should read "Trial passages axis, E. of base, at the station marks." Highlighted error with tool-tip correction. *

- Chapter 7, Section 64: Value for "Beginning of Ascending passage / vertically / above pavement" erroneously listed by Petrie as 179.9. Correct value is 172.9. Highlighted error with tool-tip link to correction page s64.html. (Thanks to M.J. Thomas for spotting this one.)
- Chapter 13, Section 92 table: The corrected values for four linear dimensions, as determined by Brabin's spreadsheet analysis, had been overlooked: 29102.0, 15170.4, 36857.7, and 17873.2 should read, respectively, 29102.1, 15170.5, 36856.7, and 17873.1. Corrected values added to ../corrections/s92.html. (Thanks to B.A. Hokom for noticing this oversight.)
June 9, 2006:
- Chapter 20, Section 136: "(section '43)" corrected to read "(section 143)." (Thanks to Simon Banton for spotting this one.)

- Sadly, Graham Oaten's excellent Ancient Egypt site has been retired, thus the associated links previously appearing on this site have been removed. Best of luck, Graham, on your future endeavors.
January 24, 2007 - Chapter 21, Section 143:
- Transcription error in first table, first row: "(or geographical mile of equator meridian)" corrected to read "(or 1/2 geographical mile of equator meridian)."
- Petrie made repeated errors in sign on the second table: All "above base" should read "below base." Socket levels should be negative values. (Thanks to Leon Cooper for bringing this to my attention.)
March 20, 2007:
- Transcription error in Chapter 21, Section 153, first table, second row (Length): √100 corrected to read √120. (Thanks to Jim Alison for spotting this one.)

February 29, 2008:
- Transcription errors in Corrected Great Pyramid Course Elevations table: Corrected six instances of a comma having been inadvertently inserted in place of a period. No values were affected, thus I shall not change the revision date for the site. I am indebted to the sharp eyes of Bruce Vickery for noticing these errors.
July 13, 2008:
- Sadly, I was notified today of Graham Oaten's death. He died sometime between July 2 and July 12 of a ruptured brain aneurysm (at least his passing was mercifully quick). Graham was a good and kind friend, and I shall miss him greatly.
- Graham Oaten (1941-2008):

- The purchase link to Amazon has been removed, since Amazon continues to confuse the two editions of Petrie's books. To my knowledge, no reprint matches the content freely available on this website.
September 19, 2008 - Chapter 21:
- Section 149, page 189 - Corrected a transcription error of the word about (was abeut) in the first phrase of the final paragraph of Section 149.
- Section 153, page 192 - Proportionality symbols were inadvertently omitted from the sentence "The theory of the wall height the breadth breadth King's Chamber height is quite possible." The sentence has been corrected to read "The theory of the wall height : the breadth :: breadth : King's Chamber height is quite possible."
